Put Me in the Game Coach

We just added a basketball hoop to our home. Jared views it as an investment into our future retirement because Cade will become a NBA basketball star if we start him out young. We started out yesterday looking for summer clothes for Cade but some how came home with a hoop and t-ball tee, its amazing how things like that can happen. Once we got it home Jared ripped open the box and started putting it together. I thought that for sure this would be a toy that was more fun for the dad than for the kid. However, that all changed when I saw Cade grab the ball and get frustrated with Jared because he couldn't get the net on fast enough and that was all I needed to realize that it was worth the purchase.

The rest of the day was full of basketball. Cade started off with dunks but then started to move further back and is actually getting rather good. He played ball for about and hour and a half, some of that time he had to sit on the bench while dad tried, but he played his little heart out. Well, bed time quickly approached and I thought that he would knock out because he had played hard and hadn't taken a long nap. However, after crying for about 30 minutes we got him up, we were having a meeting and felt like awful parents listening to our child cry "ball" as we were attempting to listen, and let him play ball for another 45 minutes. After his little workout he was out like a light but was right back to it this morning. It is so much fun to watch him!! It is the best to see him make a basket and then jump up and down and clap for himself just to turn around and do it again. Oh, the beauties of little boys.

That's my nephew making those hoops! He is so cute! Sounds like he played for along time, too. Pure boy.

Love it, how fun! Will is just developing a love for balls. Today he insisted we play catch with him for like a half hour, and anytime we got up to go somewhere, he would pat the couch and vocalize his desires to continue playing!

And yes, little boys are the best! Now you've got me thinking about getting a basketball hoop for Monk's b-day...
